Caves of Qud

Caves of Qud is a technological masterpiece. It gives the player more freedom than any other game of the genre, so its a shock that it isn't ridden with bugs.
Despite being a turn-based roguelike featuring permadeath, the map stays consistent, allowing the player to feel like they're unlocking new content without explicitly using metaprogression.
The most entertaining part of the game is the character customization. The player can either play as a mutant or cyborg, both with their own benefits and detriments. As you keep playing the same character, you'll continue unlocking new mutations or cybernetic implants, leading to these ridiculously memorable builds.
Mutant is my preferred playstyle, and here's a list of some silly characters I've played as:
- An idiot with four arms, each yielding a club. His goal is to give the opponent brain damage - even the playing field, I suppose.
- An akimbo gunslinger with wings. (Susceptible to rocks being thrown)
- An esper who died while mind-controlling an ape. (His mind is now stuck in the vessel of an ape)
- A cyborg tinkerer who deconstructs folding chairs and turns them into grenades and revolvers.
If you enjoy more traditional roguelikes like Cogmind or Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead, then I'm sure you've heard of Caves of Qud, but if you haven't, then I heavily recommend checking this one out.
